Early Life & Education
Max Homa was born in California in November 1990. He was raised by his supportive parents, Bonnie Milstein and John Homa. His dad is a former professional golfer who taught acting in North Hollywood. John has a significant influence on his son’s evolution as a golfer and a person. From an early age, Max received guidance from his dad that allowed him to navigate through the challenges of golf.
Max’s mom, Bonnie, also played a pivotal role in his life and career. Not much is revealed about his mother, but she is rumored to have worked at Valley Produce Market as an office manager. She has made a significant impact on Max’s character. Bonnie instilled the values of hard work and preservance in Max ensuring he remained grounded. Max has a younger sister, Maddie.
Homa studied at Valencia High School, where he was a 2009 Foothill League MVP. He graduated from high school in 2009 and then attended the University of California, Berkeley. Homa earned a degree in Consumer Behavior from the University. In 2012-13, Golfweek ranked him 19th as a senior golfer. Similarly, he claimed the Pac-12 Championship title at Los Angeles Country Club, where he set the opening round 9-under par 61 and broke the course record.
Amateur Career
Max Homa gained prominence through his remarkable achievements in golf. He began his amateur career in 2008 where he competed on the Junior America’s Cup team representing Southern California. The following year, he won at the Ventura County Junior Golf Association.
After that, he competed at the U. S. Amateur but lost to the reigning champion, An Byeong-hun. At the end of 2010, he ranked 4th in California. In 2013, he participated as an amateur at the U. S. Open and claimed victory at the 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship. Max turned professional after getting selected in the squad of the 2013 Walker Cup.
Professional Career
Max played his first professional PGA Tour game at the Frys.com Open in October 2013. Then, he competed in the Web.com Tour qualifying school tying for the sixth place. After that, he competed at the BMW Charity Pro-Am and got his maiden professional victory. He secured his 2014-15 PGA Tour card after finishing 17th on the regular-season money list of the Web.com Tour.
Homa failed to get good results in the 2017 PGA Tour season. He even lost his PGA Tour card after making only 2 cuts in a total of 17 events. Max regained his PGA Tour card in the 2018 Web. com Tour season. Homa secured his maiden PGA Tour title at the Wells Fargo Championship in May 2019. He registered his second PGA Tour win at the Genesis Invitational in February 2021.
Homa claimed his third PGA Tour victory at the Fortinet Championship in September 2021. Then, he won the Wells Fargo Championship again in May 2022. After a few months, he defended the Fortinet Championship, beating Danny Willett. In January 2023, he appeared at the Farmers Insurance Open and claimed the title.
In the 2024 PGA Tour season, he showcased his ongoing evolution as a professional golfer. As of November 2024, he has played in 17 golf tournaments and has only cut 14 events. Homa recorded his best finish at the 2024 Masters Tournament, where he tied for third. He marked his first top 5 finish in a major golf event by finishing third.
Max Homa’s Wife- Lacey Croom
Max Homa is married to his longtime girlfriend, Lacey Croom. The pair exchanged wedding vows after dating for several years in 2019. They have known each other since they were studying in high school. Homa and Croom reportedly shares interests particularly in golf.
Lacey is actively involved in Max’s personal and professional life. She often accompanies him in his golf events. The couple has a son named Cam Andrew Homa, born on October 30, 2022. Max often showcases his pride in fatherhood by sharing heartfelt moments with his son on social media. Similarly, he often expressed his desire to stand as a role model for his son.
