Early Life & Education
Bryson DeChambeau was born in California on September 16, 1993. He was raised by his parents, Janet Louise Druffel and John Howard Aldrich DeChambeau. Bryson grew up with a brother named Garrett. At age seven along with his family he shifted to Clovis.
DeChambeau lost his father in 2020 after a long battle with kidney disease. He faced many challenges after losing his dad. Despite that, he remained committed to golf. Bryson studied at Clovis East High School and grabbed the title of California State Junior Championship in 2010. He earned his graduation degree in 2012 and attended Southern Methodist University with a scholarship.
DeChambeau majored in physics at Southern Methodist University and earned the nickname “The Scientist” for his analytical approach to the game. Bryson became the first SMU Mustang to grab the title of the NCAA Individual Championship in June 2015.
Just after a month, he registered a victory at the U. S. Amateur. That same year, he won two titles, the U.S. Amateur and the NCAA title. As an amateur, he made his PGA Tour debut in June 2015 by competing at the FedEx St. Jude Classic.
Professional Career
Bryson DeChambeau competed in his first major championship at Chambers Bay at the U. S. Open. However, he missed the cut at the event by 4 strokes. In 2016, he appeared at the NCAA but could not defend his title. He decided to forgo his senior season to appear in various events before turning professional.
In November 2015, he appeared at the Australian Masters and finished as runner-up. Then, in 2016, he competed at the Masters and tied for 21st place. He turned professional after competing at the Masters in mid-April 2016. DeChambeau made his professional debut at the RBC Heritage and tied for fourth.
Brysons’ decision to turn professional meant that he could not play at the Open Championship and the U. S. Open. However, he qualified at the U. S. Open and tied for 15th place. Bryson got his first PGA Tour win at the John Deere Classic in July 2017. After winning the debut PGA title, he secured a place in the 2017 Open Championship. In November 2018, he won the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open title and earned $1,260,000 in prize money.
DeChambeau continued his good form and registered a win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in July 2020. The following year he appeared at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and won the title defeating Lee Westwood in the final round. DeChambeau decided to join LIV Golf in June 2022.
After the confirmation, he was criticized for betraying the U. S. by the survivors and families of the September 11 attacks. Bryson got his first LIV Golf win at The Greenbrier in August 2023. Then, he registered his second LIV tour win at the LIV Golf Chicago in September 2023.

Bryson DeChambeau’s most recent relationship is with a collegiate golfer, Lilia Schneider. He started dating her in September 2022 after breaking up with Hunter Nugent. Despite their separation, the pair appeared at various golf events including the LIV Golf Invitational in Chicago.
DeChambeau also dated an Instagram model and a nurse, Sophia Phalen Bertolami. They reportedly began their romantic relationship in 2018.
