Jeremy played at South Alabama for four seasons, primarily as a cornerback, and then moved to safety in his senior year. Reaves made major contributions to the team throughout his college career. After recording 96 tackles, he was named second-team All-Sun-Belt Conference in his sophomore year.

Reaves recorded 3 interceptions and 104 tackles as a senior and subsequently earned the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year. His impressive collegiate performance earned him an invitation to the 2018 Senior Bowl. There, he made an interception and eight tackles. Despite showing impressive performance in collegiate career, he went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft.
