Early Life
Johnathan Cyprien was born in July 1990 in North Miami Beach, Florida. His parents, Roselaure and Kenel Cyprien are originally from Haiti. Cyprien grew up with four siblings, Schnider, Clay, Sheena, and Christian. He studied at North Miami Beach High School. During school days, he actively played football and served as a team captain as a senior. Later, he received an athletic scholarship and attended Florida International University. From 2009 to 2012, he competed for the FIU Partners Football.
Cyprien appeared in 12 games as a true freshman. He had great records during his freshman season and eventually finished at second place on the team. Cyprien recorded 78 tackles, three breakups, one interception, and two forced fumbles. In 2010, Cyprien led the University team with 113 tackles. In 2011, he appeared in all 13 games as a junior and recorded 81 tackles. When he began playing in his senior year, he started getting recognized as the top safety to ever compete at FIU.
Career
Before beginning his professional career, Cyprien accepted an invitation to compete in the 2013 Superior Bowl. With his aggressive style, he impressed many sports analysts and scouts during Senior Bowl practices. Johnathan competed in the Reese’s Senior Bowl on January 26, 2013, and there, he recorded five combined tackles. Cyprien was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2013 NFL draft. He was signed by the Jaguars for a four-year. Johnathan made his professional regular-season debut and first career start against the Kansas City Chiefs.
In September 2013, he recorded 7 combined tackles. At the end of his rookie season, he appeared in 15 games and recorded 104 combined tackles, an interception, 6 pass deflections, and a sack. He began the 2014 season against the Philadelphia Eagles. In October 2014, he recorded 15 combined tackles against the Tennessee Titans. Then, during week 8, he recorded 10 solo tackles against the Miami Dolphins. At the end of the 2014 season, he recorded 114 combined tackles, 80 solo tackles, and 3 pass deflections in a total of 15 games.
Cyprien started 2015 season-opener against the Carolina Panthers, where he recorded 4 combined tackles. However, due to injury, he missed the following games. In October 2015, he made 14 combined tackles against the Indianapolis Colts. Cyprien finished the 2015 season with 78 solo tackles, 108 combined tackles, 2 passes defended, and 1 interception in 14 games.
In March 2017, Johnathan signed a four-year contract with the Tennessee Titans. He was named the starting strong safety by head coach, Mike Mularkey to begin the 2017 season. He began the season-opener against the Oakland Raiders and made 7 combined tackles. In November 2017, he recorded 10 combined tackles against the Pittsburgh Steelers. At the end of the 2017 season, he made 57 combined tackles, a pass deflection, and a sack. The Titans released him on March 11, 2019. Then, he signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in August 2019.
Johnathan was traded to the Atlanta Falcons in September 2019. After being placed on injured reserve, he appeared in five games. In August 2020, he signed a contract with the San Francisco 49ers. For three consecutive days, he was elevated to the active roster against, the Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots, and Green Bay Packers. Even though he was promoted to active roaster, later, the 49ers placed him on injured reserve. He was eventually waived on December 15, 2020.

Johnathan Cyprien is currently in a relationship with Alexis Welch Stoudemire. He met her through a mutual friend, Ashley Nicole. Cyprien and Stoudemire were strategically introduced by Ashley during a lunch at Miami-based Sofia Italian Restaurant. They talked for an hour, and within a short time, they found many similarities between them. Initially, they had a conversation about their relationship goals, personal values, and future aspirations. Later, they both found that they were looking for a long-term and serious commitment.
Cyprien and Stoudemire quickly got along with each other through meaningful interactions. They went on their first date on a relaxed beach outing. The new cou0le enjoyed long hours talking about their professional and personal life journeys. Alexis is a tech investor and a successful entrepreneur.
